    Wool

The quality of the wool seems very high for late war. IMHO it is a post war copy.

Here is an untouched original from the same (M) depot if you want to compare.

I wonder if this has been modified from a greatcoat at some point, a la the comment regarding the wool quality.

                Hello
I don't like the wool nor the lining.

Glenn, that is what we like to see in an M44, the low quality lining fabric, loose stiching, and recycled crumby late war wool. Button holes are correct. 100% example. I strongly suspect the piece in question is is an early copy circa 1980. I remember seeing Artillery wraps with that type of lining circa 1986 in Germany . Some of these older copies are really hard to detect, it is all in knowing the period materials and construction.

Don't think so Don, looks Swedish to me.

Of course, I meant a SWEDISH greatcoat, Glenn... I just have a hard time withthat "boiled wool" look on any German items - even the late war stuff usually looked a little more refined, even if it fell apart in a month or two.

Imho the biggest Problem with this jacket is the seam down the back.

IMO the seam on the back is no problem. I have a M44 with a seam which got OK on the forums.
