The quality of the wool seems very high for late war. IMHO it is a post war copy.

Glenn, that is what we like to see in an M44, the low quality lining fabric, loose stiching, and recycled crumby late war wool. Button holes are correct. 100% example. I strongly suspect the piece in question is is an early copy circa 1980. I remember seeing Artillery wraps with that type of lining circa 1986 in Germany . Some of these older copies are really hard to detect, it is all in knowing the period materials and construction.

Of course, I meant a SWEDISH greatcoat, Glenn... I just have a hard time withthat "boiled wool" look on any German items - even the late war stuff usually looked a little more refined, even if it fell apart in a month or two.

Imho the biggest Problem with this jacket is the seam down the back.
