        Ciao Carlo
Carlo...."Grüß Di' " means "Greetings to you" in Bavarian/Austrian/Tyrolean where all good Jägers come from!

                Gr******252;******223; Di' Carlo,

I don't have any problems with the mismatched green piping. This was fairly common. I have some Gebirgsj******228;ger items with lighter "PzGrenadier" green also. I don't think the German army was a picky as most collectors. ;-)

It was not uncommon to cross train members of the different regiments..it is possible that this officer was assigned to the 72nd IR at some point...possibly for furthur infantry weapon or tactics training. With the way the fighting in Italy was going, there might not have been much impetus to find more numerals and replace them..

                        We may never know...
