Thanks
I have not seen a tan tunic like that before, it looks like the normal tropical material? That looks like an interesting uniform. I was not aware they made tunics like that. I have a tunic made out of Dutch colonial tropical tunic fabric that is issue and depot marked but it is a very different color.
Originally posted by djpool View PostHi John,
The Balkan tunic is actually a production made piece. Its stamped F42 see pic. They're fairly uncommon, but I've seen a couple of them over the years. Probably in terms of scarcity in the same category as the 2d Pattern HBT wrap.
Actually George was one of the first people to see it, after I got it.He liked it. The wrap he had problems with was refered to on the anonymous E mail I posted above. Of course George isn't infallible either. I'm hoping Mike Davis will post his wrap. I think there is a lot of confusion out there about what to look for when determining originality on these rare pieces. There is a pre 1996/97 truth and a post 1996/97 truth. I realize that new discoveries are always popping up, but without some hard proof I use the pre 1996/97 standards to judge these wraps. WR jim

the second model of panzer hbt suit was adopted in 1942,
so i would be very suspicious for a 1941 dated one.
and the construction of the one shown doesn't looks like a prototype for tropical areas.

It now resides at the Hritz residence. I hated to give it up but he tempted me with an item I liked more. At least I still have visitation rights.
Oh heres some pics that might be of interest, via my friend Jim Haley.A white wrap in either smooth cotton or linen. Earlier I posted some collars of white wraps with zig zag collars. One was in a smooth cotton one. Some collector in France posted it on another forum years ago. Even though it didn't meet my pre 96/97 standard I never commented. Something about it that I liked. Maybe it was style wrap.WR JimAttached Files

The White jackets
The White jackets I have seen before and they are documented to have been issued and worn etc. The problems are the new fakes etc. I still think these are really hard to tell from photos. The cloth on the tan/neutral set is also similar to TENO issue items, leaning towards period if real etc.
No one commented on LAH wrap posted did they? I am in Mexico and will be in the sticks after tomorrow. It will be interesting to return and view the evolution of the thread.

BDE
re
Hello.
I would not consider the tan cotton HBT wrapper an original war time item, Very well made but still a fake.

Prior to all the fake HBT/mouse grey wraps flooding the market, every original HBT or mouse grey wrap I knew of, never had the zig zag stitching on the back of the collar and were marked in a different place. So is it now true that zig zag stitching and stamping on the pocket of HBT/denim wraps is perfectly acceptable? In that case I owe apoligies to the owners of the white wraps shown in the picture below. (the one at the upper left is Lucas) WR Jim
After viewing the other posted images more carefully, I also noticed numerous other details that differed from my examples. I don't remember seeing reproduction mouse grey wraps (this was new information to me) before but I have seen the HBT pattern.
As for your wrap Jim, it is interesting - would like to see it in person.Attached Files
