Excellent movie. I like the pic in frame #28 showing the wear of an Army crusher. In one scene you can see the wear of a SS camo parka on a soldier going by in the back of a truck. Bill

        Hi Jim,
Thanks for taking the trouble to post the stills, should be here in
the UK soon, so a must for the collection.
' A time to live a time to die ' Gawd, it must be 20yrs since I last saw that,
usually we get constant showings of Where Eagles dare, Great escape,
        Tobruk etc..

I can only remember bits, seem to remember it showed the ordinary German
soldier is a sensitive light, or at least for that period of production.
        Was rock hudson in it?

At the end he lets a young sniper go, but he picks up the gun and shoots
        RH in the back.

Did it ever make it to VHS or DVD?

        CHEERS,
        John.

The actor is John Gavin (looks like RH). I believe it is a partisan he free's who shoots him.

            Hi John,

Actually the title is "A Time to Love and a Time to Die"(my mistake). As Jaime stated John Gavin played the lead role in it. The movie opens up with his squad on the Eastern Front (great uniform shots). The real story begins after hes sent to Germany on leave. There he discovers love and begins to doubt the war.Pretty solid movie, I think it was nominated for 2 Oscars. I don't think its available on any format now.Used to be on VHS. WR Jim

              Jim and Jamie,
Many thanks for the info, I will try and
search a VHS on the secondary market.

              Regards,
              John.

I got this on DVD 2 days ago, and it was amazing! I must say that the majority of panzer wrappers look hoaky, as well as that one guy's SS tunic, but the rest of the uniforms were amazing!
I recommend this for all the collectors here!

                      Bryon,

I think Richard Basehard was in "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" - close but no cigar... Lloyd Bridges was in "Sea Hunt" - managed to break every rule in the book of Scuba diving in that program...

Looks like the SS-Rottenfuhrer in this movie has the War Merit Cross 2nd Class in his buttonhole... not a well-known COMBAT type award... must have been a driver or something.

                          Bob,

Thanks for the correction; guess I am just as bad with movies as I am with militaria.
