and 1934 RPTs. I haven't been able to find, in period literature, exactly
what they signified. I've been on the lookout for a set of cords/tassels for
years but had to settle for a pair of copies until the real thing comes along.

    Erich:
DE streamers seem to date back to around 1925, as noted by this
early party meeting photo that I have posted below - streamers have
"Deutshland Erwache" on them, which works well to repeat the motto
when the backside of the banner is displayed forward as was done in
this photo on the right. IMO this photo maybe gives some insight into
streamer use, in that they were displayed indoors on the kamphzeit
standards, and likewise the 1934/35 versions had the same purpose,
denoting their rally attendance or to commemorate the official
assumption of state power of the party. I will have to consult my
microfilm (64 reels) of the Stanford University held 1945 Berlin
captured NSDAP Hauptarchieve for maybe more information.

I'd be interested in any information you might find there. In this photo I always assumed that they were added to the standards on the day of consecration, which was a common practice in the German military. I've got one for a 1925 flag consecration (military, not political) . As you note, these streamers were not used during the normal carrying of these first standards, but are only seen in the earliest photos when the standards are 'at rest'. Later, when the standards were displayed at rest, they no longer wore the standards as documented in photographs.
