There is no evidence or proof of that, that I can find
    Nor any existing photos
Which is very odd for an RZM approved maker
So this bird to me is as 4th Reich as it gets.

For the "some called true" type 2 eagle top period use
photos, see TOTW film screen captures by mloppkit.
IMO these period screen captures are the smoking
gun proof for the "true" type 2 NSDAP top existence.

IMO as very few were made, very
few survived the end of WW2.

What other explanation would there be for their scarcity on the market?

Just my personal opinion, I'll only be comfortable with Type 1 and the Type 2 variant (long stem version with M3 prefix stamped or known as Type 3 here)? I'm not comfortable with the "proposed type 2". Just my opinion - afterall we collect what we want.

The war has been over for 85 years
And not one period photo, or known example of one up until 2020
When all of a sudden, OFW says it’s “the true 2nd pattern”
                      Lol
                      Not for me it isnt

Hi Matt, no worries, all good - I will add though that at least half a dozen of these have shown up over the last 20 years. Please also note that I posted some examples of these along with period pics here on the WAF back in 2013. A quick search of the net also shows up a few more - Here is the recent auction example with three others - interesting that all three have different types of pole cups - not one pole cup the same??? Also interesting is the one from Hermanns auction 54 back in 2007 has a black swaz???

I think that I also agree with mrec27777 - "I THINK IN THIS PIC ...type 2 should be type 1 ..EC"

                        Cheers,
