Although i never had any contact with Ben, I always read his posts with interest as he clearly knew his field inside out and seemed ever willing to share his knowledge.

However, more than that I never ever saw him post with a snide, rude or inflammatory comment. Something that some of the current membership here might take heed of.

    RIP.

    Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

I have to agree with Mr Saris "What a loss to the collecting world!!"

Ben has left a void in the now aptly named 'OFW - Flag, Pennant and Standard Forum' that can never be filled. His enthusiasm was infectious and his knowledge and experience equal only to his passion. Ben was always eager to assist wherever possible and whenever he could- yet he was humble and always prepared to consider alternate views and opinions. He was always courteous and helpful and never condescending. Ben was always just a post, or a PM or an email away and would respond in a timely manner to either the most trivial or challenging question. The WAF (and indeed the entire collecting world) will never be the same without him, he has taught us all so much and I will be forever grateful for his guidance, advice and assistance over the years. Taken from us much too soon, RIP Ben,

      Missing your presence here already,
      Michael

Rip Ben! Like others said very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. When I started out on here I was 16 and he helped me out a lot even with newb questions. Won’t be the same.

How lucky we were to have known him, if only here on the forum. His willingness to share his knowledge with other
collectors is that of a teacher to his students.

Rest in Peace Mr. Ben, You will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear the news. He seemed to have a period photo of every conceivable flag, banner, pennant out there. My prayers to him and his family. Robert

Terrible news. Maybe he passed on his knowledge to a family member, who can still post here as OFW
