    Marine Luger 1916

    Hello!

    Just want to post photos of one of the guns in my collection.

    Let me introduce a salty Marine Luger from 1916. Its got matching numbers except for the mag. (which is correct anyway with the concentric rings in the wooden botton piece) The blueing is worn and there are small spots of rust too. There is also some corrosion in the barrel! The wooden girps are used but still healthy! This pistol isnt for all the minty lovers but for those who likes honestly used stuff.

    Im pretty sure it would do pleasingly well at precision target shooting any way, and probably beat many modern wonder nines!

    Well, a marine Luger is always a marine luger..and my holy graal of the lugers!In my opinion a more beautiful Luger doesnt exist! (except a minty one of course )

    Also; this is what my wallet can afford!

                      Bob Hunter: What do you mean by property numbers? Do you mean the regimental codes that is common on the army WW1 Lugers?

                        Hi Felix,

                        I fully understand you when you say that this is the "Holy Graal" among the Lugers! I spent almost 15 years before I could get one of these , but it surely worths the efforts.

                          As i don´t know anything about Luger´s i must ask, is this a rare luger?? I´m asking beacuse i have one like this, but de activated. Matching numbers, but made in 1917, and the maker is DWM. My Luger is most likely from a Freikorps in Riga 1919. (I got it from an old officers home, and his father was there in Riga 1919 with some other officers, and i have a german helm that was in the same place as the luger, and there is a handwritten note inside the helm, so i guess it have the same origin.)
                          My gun is in the same condition as the one here, but as i said, the barrel is welded, and i guess that some springs are missing, the mechanism stay open, when you "load" the pistol.

                            I like your Marine very much.
                            And yes it is the GRAAL of the Luger.
                            A friend of mine has a Marine.
                            That's not quite as nice as yours. I would like to buy the pistol.
                            But he does not want to. A great pity!

                              Very few of the 1914 variation Navy Lugers are found with property marks, and I believe all of those bear Kiel Dockyard (W.K.) marks.

                              Nice find. Always loved the back sight, and all the labor that went into it just to give another 100 meters range to the sight.
