    1913 DWM Luger

Wow, first post in almost a year, where does the time go?

Anyway, this Luger has been sitting in the case at a local gun shop for a long time. The other day, I threw out a silly offer and to my surprise it was accepted! This is the first pistol I've ever owned and have always had an affinity for Lugers. It is mostly matching with the exception of the sideplate (which for some reason is painted black, but that I'll probably strip off soon) and the disassembly lever. Also, the barrel appears to have a commercial nitro proof on the underside. Also of note are the East German VoPo grips and the matching mag marked "2/1001" which I believe is also East German.

Side plate and barrel are East German replacements.

Neat! I'll have no problem stripping off the black paint and reblueing the side plate then; it should improve the appearance greatly. Wooden grips will probably be in the works too.

The grips and mag are DDR as well. This Luger is a DDR police or Army re-work circa 1950s.

I would leave the grips or at least be sure to keep them as they are correct for this variation.

Oh yes, I'm definitely going to hold on to the so-called VOPO grips and mag, even if I do switch them out for some variety

I say keep it as a VOPO Luger maybe re-blue side plate but don't go changing the other stuff, I like it for what it is & the history in its evolvement, I want one just like that now.
