Here's my WWI Erfurt Luger, all matching including the wooden based mag, came with take down tool and spare wooden based mag. The guy I bought it off told me a British vet brought it back as it is in the pics with holster etc. but who knows? Of course being in the UK it is deactivated, I can hear our American friends crying in their coffee Tim.

Tim, 1914 dated Erfurt P08s are quite scarce and bring a premium. It is a freaking shame that your government doesn't trust you to have such a weapon if it is functional. What is the serial number?
Also a very nice looking holster even though the pull-up is gone. How is the holster marked and dated?

I never realized they were rare or is it just the 1914 year of Erfurts?
It is not so much the maker , but the date so to say. That is in 1914 the germans were not on a war footing until it was already upon them.As such the production of small arms in 1914 for the german government was not that great.Hnece the scarcity of nice 1914 dated german small arms in oriignal issue condition. I have a handfull of 1914 dated gew98's and one kar98a...they are tough to find in collectable condition for sure.
On another note I would like to see pics of the exact things done to P08's under UK law to deactivate them. I can see from one pic it looks like the breech face of the P08 'bolt' has been ground and something 'jammed' into it.

Lovely looking luger rig!
Yes, I am crying here. It is sad to see such a nice looking luger to be deactivated like that.
Looks like the bolt face has been ground down, firing pin removed, and something put in its place? Is anything done to the barrel?
Matt
BTW- almost forgot! That holster is just frickin' beautiful! What is the maker and date on the holster?

Mr Jan Still suggests the following Erfurt production levels in his great book, "Imperial Lugers":
1911, 10,000; 1912, 21,000; 1913, 23,000; 1914, 7,000; 1916, 80,000; 1917, 180,000; 1918, 175,000 (note that there were no Lugers manufactured by Erfurt with a 1915 date)
Estimated LP08 production by Erfurt in 1914 is 23,000.

This is how my DWM 1915 has been deactivated.
Be warned, it is not for the faint-hearted.........
Steve.
The breech block and firing pin are ground back so a round cannot be 'picked up'.......Attached FilesLast edited by stevezz1; 02-08-2005, 05:56 PM.

The chamber is either pluged & welded or has a steel rod welded across it.....Attached FilesLast edited by stevezz1; 02-08-2005, 05:57 PM.
