    Warren Buxton has passed

I just heard that pioneer researcher and writer on P38s, Warren Buxton was killed in an auto wreck on the way back from the Tulsa show. Warren got P38 collecting really rolling back in the day. Warren, along with expert WWII gun luminaries like Bob Wittington, Charley Kenyon and Jan Still, was greatly responsible for the formation of our collecting community and the hobby as we know it today.

Warren was a kind, polite and generous soul - always a gentleman and ever the student, despite his master guru status. He was always a welcome traveler at my table at the SOS, stopping by the visit on P38s and to sit and rest a minute.

I'm sure we will all miss him, and I'm sure there is more info on other forums so please feel free to post some links.

Very sad to hear. A pioneer of P-38 collecting.

It will be interesting to hear what the details were. Was it a drunk driver , or could warren have had a heart attack and then hit someone else. Only the coroner and or witnesses will be able to shed light on what happened.

I believe it was a bus fire that backed up traffic. Traffic was at a stand still and the van Warren was in crashed into the back of a stopped truck. Just not enough time to stop on a very busy and fast freeway.

        Very sad!

        Bob.

This is old news, but for those who haven't heard yet, it is true, Warren Buxton was killed in a vehicle accident after leaving the Tulsa Gun Show, I believe on April 3rd.

Truly sad. A pioneer and true legend in the P38 collecting field. He was a great man. He will be missed by many. My prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

There is a large post already on the P38 forum in honour of Warren.

Also, two other gun guys, John and Bob were in the vehicle, and both were critically injured. Last I heard, both are alive, but it will be along road to recovery for them both. Pray for them as well.

          God Speed,
          Matt
