    Great find! Once again, your collection never ceases to amaze me!

    My thoughts are it's probably a Chinese rifle, that may have been "liberated" by a Japanese soldier earlier in the war, then he was transferred to Okinawa later in the war. Besides the Chinese writing, the fact that it has no "mum" would further indicate this.

    I have a Russian SVT 40, that was a bring back by a USGI from Normandy.
    As Steve said earlier, "if only it could talk."

      I have one of these "C" block rifles as well. Mine was a Army bring back from the Pacific as well. C prefix 1937 dated rifles are known to be Jap Navy weapons.
      Seems the date of 1937 might not have been when they were made but applied to allow shipment.
