Picked up this 1944 pp with holster and Red Cross belt,along with GI photo album and bring back papers. Album covers stateside training thru dachau and Nuremberg rally sites. Two sets of bring back forms with serial number matching the pistol, 1944 production date, pleasing red brown bluing finish. Interesting --Red Cross and a red pistol! I'm not a gun person, I'm sure it's just the way the bluing process has aged to give it the reddish hue the pistol presents with today.

Actually the red hue is just as it was when new and is correct for a PP from this range. The finish variation was caused by the exact alloy of the steel/hardness or blue solution temperature .....I forget specifically which one of those 3 factors.Comment

The signature block of the Captain shows "451 Bomb Sqd"....so maybe he was USAAC.Comment

Really nice find! Looks like "451 Bomb Sqd" a famous B-26 unit that flew the 8th AF's first missions in the ETO. Really amazing find!

Thanks gentlemen for the comments and information. Most of the photos have dates and captions on the backs, even though they have been glued into the album. They should provide much more detail to who and where the GI was during the war.
