Not to be persistent. Just to learn more. I now have some more pictures of the K98. Any opinions are welcome.

This rifle is a direct veteran purchase by previous owner. Veteran sporterized original stock. On the pictures you see it with a temporary replacement that was put by previous owner. Later he found original LSR stock that the rifle has right now (not on the photo). If you really want, I can post some pictures over the weekend how it looks now.
As far as locking lever, because it is different does it make it bad 100%? Was everything 100% always identical? Are you going to condemn the whole rifle because of that and replaced stock?
It was posted on this forum in the past. Search LSR threads and take a look what other people thought about it.

Jack, I wanted to make you aware of what I usually look for first when identifying original rifles from fakes. And that is one of the easiest things. Probably someone also added it later, I cannot tell. However, I've learned that this is something to identify original rifles.

With the other stuff, your explanation sounds reasonable. Is the now correct stock matching numbers to the rifle, and did it come with a checkered buttplate?

Current stock being a replacement has mismatched number. It came however from LSR and has checkered buttplate.

Has anyone had a chance to check out the additional pictures I posted? Just want to get a bit more information about this gun if possible.
Trying to narrow down all the replies and see if you guys believe that it was an original sniper that other or potentially fake parts were added to or if the rifle is a complete fake.

I am looking for an original K98 sniper, preferrably long side rail. But would definitely consider other types. Must be a known original. Will pay top dollar.

While you keep looking for one, get few books. I would recommend Kriegsmodell book that covers late LSRs and HTs and definately Robert Spielauer's book which in my opinion the best so far.
