well as movies go, here is my list in no certain order:
    Stalingrad
SPR, although the weapon setails sucked (interesting reticle in those sniper scopes, and never knew an 03-a4 could shoot 8 rounds without reloading!)
    Cross of Iron
Apocalypse now (yeah I know it ain't WW2)
    Das Boot
    Die Brucke
where Eagles Dare (big Eastwood fan)
    Winter War
    B.O.B.
when trumpets fade was pretty good, not much stuff on the Hurtgen out there
the Eagle has landed (those M2 carbines full auto with 30 round clips have to go, though)
    the Great Escape
    I'm sure I missed a bunch...
I too would like to see some movies with G43's Fg42's (dream on) and mp-44's though I know cost is prohibitive, but can't those Hollywood bigwigs pick up some of those cheap Shoei guns and have a couple of guys tote them around?

I have seen a couple of members mention "Winter War" I must have missed that one. What was it? What was it about?

        Hi Ranger,
it was made in 1993 and details the "Winter War" between the Nazi supplied Finns and the Soviets.
rivals SPR for effects. there is one company I know of who sells copies on Vhs and Dvd for around $30

let me see if they have a website and I'll get back to you,

Thanks Brian, I just bought it. That is a pretty good site with many titles I haven't heard of. I am going to have fun just browsing.

                Matt,

Nah, the Mustangs just happened along at an opportune time to witness and confirm the good Captain's .45 kill - although, his armorer might question the need for expending so many rounds for only one kill.

On the lighter side, and speaking of Clint Eastwood, "Kelly's Heros" always cracked me up.

The only thing the movie had in common with history, is that there WAS a war on - but it's always good for a laugh....

Gentlemen, before SPR and Band of Brothers there was a movie titled "A Bridge Too Far" This I felt was the best up to it's time. There were a couple of shots showing G-41's at an HQ I belive. This movie was taken from Cornelius Ryan's book of the same title. However, before this his "The Longest Day" was made into a movie also. Had he knot died of cancer I belive his other book titled "The Last Battle" would have seen the screen also. This book deals with the defence of Berlin in it's last days. Due to the fact he oversaw screen productions I feel it would have been true to the book just as the other two that did reach the screen. All three of the books deserve reading by WWII history buffs.

                        Where to Find "the Bridge"

                        Matt,
If you are loooking to obtain a copy of "The Bridge (Die Brucke)" go to Belle & Blade (www.warshows.com). Fo to the search box and enter "The Bridge". A copy will cost around $20 + shipping. They also carry quite an assortment of war movies for all periods. Good Luck!!

Since we are speeking of bridges; "bridge at Remagen" was a pretty good film too.

Generaly I like most films where you see the German side. Those films are less (American) patriotic tinted an therefor more human and realistic. See for "The Iron Cross", "Stalingrad", "Das Boot" ...
