$2800 for the rig including vet history that captured them...the price IS high but it is in great shape. How about removing the cosmoline on the left side piece that's showing? Is it easily done (assuming that IS cosmoline?)

My only concern is the side plate that seems to have a different tone to the rest of the gun....

That's true...also it comes with this WWI Prussian belt which I'm not sure why since this is a mid WWII Luger

The first Luger is the better of the two condition wise.....not even considering the grips.

I agree with others that black widow is just a nickname....not sure how or why anyone could have ever thought otherwise as the words are not even German!! I don't know who came up with it.....may have been "RS" as claimed....I know he was using the term in the late 60s......but it may also have been GIs.....either way it makes no difference.....they are "bad" looking Lugers when in nice condition and have always been popular.

Correct ones in nice condition are not that easy to find anymore and not cheap when you do...at least from anyone who knows what they have.

I think that what you are seeing is a light effect caused by the fairly coarse polishing vertical marks on the side plate to the viewers right side of the "hump". I think that the finish is fine. Again this is on the first one shown.
