SS Luger
My father in law told me that his father (who served with the Grenadier Guards in the Italian campaign) brought home a Luger pistol that was engraved and has ss marked on it, along with a belt buckle and a flask. He cannot remember the exact details as he was just a boy at the time. To cut a long story short, he traded the Luger for some Football cards with a boy from his school around the early 1960's.
I am sure he is telling the truth and my wife remembers seeing the belt buckle and flask when she was a child in the 1970's, so I am just asking if anyone knows of ceremonial pistols handed out to SS officers or why the gun was engraved in the first place?
