thanks. i'm waiting for it to arrive and will post more pics when in hand.

i'm thinking it will be easier to replace both grips as opposed to finding just one properly worn grip. i've seen an original Colt 1911 mainspring housing go for $55 on eBay. wish i had gotten it, but that was before the seller gave me the green light. this restoration project may not be as expensive as i thought... hopefully

If you use repro 1911 type grips you can get out easy on those, but originals to match the condition of the pistol will probably run in the $250/300 range.

Looks like late WWI Model 1911 mainspring housing. Military MSH was not polished like the Government Model. Not a bad price anyway.

and here is the whole rig. i think the wear on the grip safety should just about match the flat mainspring housing i'm waiting on...

What are the extra copper brads in the back of the holster for?

The belt was made at Jeffersonville QuarterMaster Depot in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The H.E.K. was the inspector, and the A.H.W. was the piece worker that made it.

thank you for the info. i've no idea on the extra brads, they seem to hold the belt to the holster, why so many... don't know.

The holster appears to be produced by thr H.H. Heiser Company in Denver CO. They were a high quality holster manufacturer with an excellent reputation. I don't know what the extra studs are for either. However; The holster in itself is a collectors item.

do you think they are not original? thanks
