    G43 K43 Forum

What is the deal on the GK43 Forum? New member signup as been "temporarily suspended" since May. I have sent a couple of emails to the administrators but I have never received an answer. I have used up all of my "guest looks' so I am done until something moves. Anyone know anything?

I would suspect it has something to do with the Spammers who have been writing meaningless threads.......Bodes

I quit going there completely. Apparently that forum is on "life support!"

You may want to try this forum instead as it is oriented towards military rifles:

The first time I went I found them very rude and closed attitude to new members. It appeared they based there acceptance on post count, not taking into account that many knowledgable people look but don't post. That was my only and last dealing with them. Ron

I noticed small activity over there. Some tables don't see new threads or posts for days.

Ron, You certainly are entitled to your opinions and I respect you posting them here.....However, I have to believe most forums, to one degree or another seem cold and have their "clicks"......One can be a 40 year collector, but when members see post #1, they can tend to think "newbie" automatically......This can often lead to a cold feeling and of being mistreated......Not saying it's right, however it is a reality....

I'm not sure when you were on the forum, but it has gone through quite a transition....."Hambone" was a moderator there, and often ruffled feathers....He is moderator on gunboards and was a member here to until he was expelled.....Hambone has his cronies, and can berate those he don't like or feel are inferior in their knowledge and experience......

There are still some good and knowledable members on the G/K43 forum, whom I personally wouldn't hesitate to get opinions/advice from......Bodes

Not to get too far OT but take the 40+ years collecting with a grain of salt. I have seen many 30-50+ collectors make horrendous mistakes. I think the sweet spot in collecting is around 20years..

Also, you need to up-date your notes on boner..

I stand corrected as I see "boner" is a Senior Member and no longer a Moderator.....Bodes

What an amazing observation. I guess using the 20 year peak in knowledge you could even assign the most knowledgeable group of collectors to the 35 to 40 year old crowd. You could break it down even further with regards to race. The only people I consistently see at gun shows with a lot of really nice collectibles are old white guys, who must be way beyond their peak.

Inaccurate and sounds like a biased view from a bird with ruffled feathers As you know, the "G/K43 forum" collapsed several years ago as a result of censorship policies and efforts to turn it into a gambling/commercial site. "Hambone" resigned as a "super moderator" there and the other moderators with him who built that site resigned too. I've seen him "berate" those who earned it and help those who needed it. There are two exceptional G/K sites:

                      Connected to the K98k books:
                      http://www.k98kforum.com/forum.php

                      GB:

Sounds like a biased rebuttal as well...

Of course one moderator of which was you.....Again, no bias on your part

Personally I had no run ins with Hambone, however didn't much care for the way he treated some members on a particular forum.....And no, it wasn't the G/K43 forum......Perhaps a little bias here..... Bodes

Which moderators didn't quit G/K forum? The first group quit and went to GB, then the second group quit and formed WW2Weapons. I don't know what you are talking about concerning "treatment" of any members anywhere else, but he usually gives better than he gets and I've never seen him censor or ban anyone at all the forums he has moderated. Some birds are very sensitive and get their feathers ruffled easily.

                            More like 40-50 year olds..

It really comes down to how tech savvy they are. If they are not on the net, they are loosing ground fast IMO.

I have also thought about the grey hairs.. Who is taking over when they pass?
I feel we will be exporting these guns to their mother country when they are all gone..

If I may humbly suggest .... Using or posting one's real name rather than an alias can make a big difference. Most long-time collectors know each other by name.

Also another humble suggestion - k98kforum.com One of the best ones going right now
