Back to the orginal weapon that started this thread, SWEET! For that matter, the 34 is killer also.

        Hi Chet,

thank you, I really like both my MG34 and 42, but I would say the MG42 is my favourite! Also ifyou or anyone else would like to see any more pictures of my MG34, then here is a link to them:

        Many thanks, Patrick.

Here are some more pictures that show how the barrel can swing out of the jacket. Unfortunately it is a post war yugo barrel, but I think just having the ability to swing it out on a deactivated MG42 is great! If you would like any more please just let me know!

would be better to find a nice one, because the patina of the bluing of the MG42 is lovely !
              congratulation !

Update: I have finally managed to find a charging handle, thanks to Jonathan, that is as close to the original finish of the rest of the gun as I think I'll ever find. It looks much better than having the post war Yugo handle. Pictures below:

                  Thanks for looking, Patrick

That matches perfectly!! There's nothing better than when a project comes together.
                    Great job.

                          Nice weapons

A fine set of weapons you have and displayed. Nice work on the 42 and the 34 looks like a great piece also.

                              Former squad leader MG 42

As former squad leader heavy machine gun (MG 3 or Mg 42 on tripod) I believe I can everything about this weapon. 17-22 shot each second on tripod was not a joke on the battlefield Change barrel each 200 shot. Range 800 -1200 m.
