Thanks for your input. I am glad that you like the rifle. Scope, too bad. I will try to return it and if not, I will have a scope for a shotter. And I will have to look for a good one to complete my rifle.

rifle its self is very solid. on the i (I) block rifles rifle serial was moved to front ring not rim. serial of rifle should be on rear ring flat area were it slinds on rear turret base.

They (Mauser) was placing the rifle number on the front ring (left side of course) by the later h block at least. I don't know exactly when they started it, but by 40 something thousand h block they were certainly numbering the ring side.
