What does 'deko' mean in German?

Hi John,
It can mean a deactivated/replica or model gun. I've got a "deko" MP44 from Germany and its a replica.
I would double check with customs or the police before trying to import a "deactivated" weapon into the UK.
What's legal in Germany or France might not be legal in the UK.
If they say it's ok, make sure you get it in writing..
Tread carefully as they say..

Yes of course! Linguist says deko means decoration purpose, but Deko mean for first a cripple. Deko pistols in Germany are sold with longitudinal cut on the barrel, striker welded into the slides, hammer or something similar looking welded into the frame in cocked position and part of frame milled out to prevent use. For those who speaks German:http://www.cds-ehrenreich.de/diverses/deko.htm
