Nice piese - its actually a "Recoil amplifier". The MG42 needs more recoil to funktion.

Thanks to all for your comments and information. I don't know that I'll be able to piece together or own the rest of the gun, but I'll have to take a look at those MG 42 copies! For now this is a cool conversation piece in my humble collection.
