    KKW gustloff with SS stamp

    hello
    one friend have this since a long time.
    i go to this home for look a heer dagger and i look the KKW, so i take in pics
    have you ever look one with SS stamp like this??
    SS stamp on the right
    eagle stamp on the left of the wood

          Karl, what do you mean "eagle stamp on the left of the wood"? Do you mean the eagle/N proof on the receiver shown in your second photo? That is a standard commercial proof stamp found on III Reich firearms after January 15, 1940. Can you provide a better close-up of the Rune stamp without the glare? This stamp is very different from the property stamp seen on SS DSM 34s and bears examination. It is known the SS received Gustloff KKWs, but the acceptance stamp is the question.

              Karl. Can you provide a photo of the eagle stamp in the stock that you mention? The rune stamp seems to have been applied in two parts: the circle and the runes.

                    Keep in mind the stock has been sanded and refinished so the stamp might be a little faint.

                      Are you basing the sanding/refinishing comment on the closed stock grain and gloss to the finish?

                      I don't think sanding produced the faint stamping. The eagle doesn't look like it was affected by any sanding. Looks new. And the runic stamp still appears done in two phases. If the stamps had been original, the result to the runes would have been equally seen on the circle stamp as well as the eagle. And the rune stamp differs greatly from accepted SS DSM 34s.

                        I agree both stamps are fake. At the end of the buttstock you can clearly see the buttstock has been sanded. Normally the wood is slightly thicker than the plate.
                        The normal Ss marking is RFSS in a circle with all small letters

                          yes , repro. marks . the eagle really should not be there.... it may have had another group of markings that looked worse , so sand it down & start again..
                          these are hard enough to find , no need to fake up the markings. jeff

                              No, the stock disc and around it, has been sanded fairly well...
