    Aluminum was available as early as 1935, I have two 1935 dated Walthers made of Aluminum.

    It is possible Walther overproduced the long barrel Steel Variations, and still had some available in 1936 and 1937.

    I have some with these dates engraved on them.

    Walther also made some batches of late steel Heer flare pistols in 1942 and 1943 with the ac codes.
