PPK Identification Help

Hi I am new to the forum. I just aquired a Walther PPK I am trying to identify. Here are some of the markings

Wings over C on right side of frame
Crown over N on Right side frame and barrel port
Serial # 100494x(the last digit is a number but I used x in its place)
2 magazines that share the same serial number on the spine
Brown plastic one piece grips with Walther Banner
No serial number on slide or muzzle that I can see
Finish is a shiny blue(flaking some on one side)

It came with a holster that appears original but I have never seen one like it before.

Any help is appreciated.

You have a Police accepted ( E/C) PPK in the million series range Charles. It is not RSHA/SS procured. The numbered magazines are quite nice for you. Do they also have numbers 1 and 2 with the serial number? The holster is police procured will have a small eagle with a B on its breast or next to it.

I have a Walther PPK Serial # 274XXX - K. Trying to establish a value. It has a holster and 2 clips. Where do I start looking?

This is actually a variation 7. Serial range 4xxxxx, K suffix, "eagle/N" proof, dull military finish, and Serial number with K suffix moved to the magazine floor plate. Good example though! thumbs

APretsch Issued SS PPK

Two summers ago I was fortunate enough to acquire a Walther PPK pistol from a deceased vet's son. Just the pistol and a magazine simply marked Walther. I subsequently obtained the correct holster to complete the group. With the kind assistance of Steve Stepan and the info in his book, I learned that this pistol was issued to Sturmmann August Falge in July 1941 at the Pretsch Border Police Academy. Records indicate that Falge was assigned to Einstatz Gruppe C and further assigned to Army Group South. How this pistol ended up in the possession of a US Army soldier I can't begin to guess. I did check back with the seller but he had no additional information to share. I have tried a number of sources but cannot locate any info on Falge. The Einstatz Gruppe were detailed to follow the victorious Wehrmacht into areas previously controlled by the Soviets and to liquidate Commissars, political types, and Jews. The were death squads and many of the leaders were tried after the war. Very few of the lower ranks were prosecuted. Any info on Falge or any potential sources would be appreciated. Thanks Rich

Congradulations Rick, but I think you have misinterpreted the historical information presented in the information from the National Archives used by Steve in his excellent book and also presented in the "Additional Documented RSHA Pistols listed with Issued Names" thread on this forum. Two documents list the PPK you acquired. The first is a request dated in 1943 from the RSHA arsenal to the EG C in Lemburg for report on the disposition of the pistols provided to the EG before its departure and reign of terror during Operation Barbarossa. So we know for sure your weapon was used as equipment by a member of that EG. Your pistol is listed a second time in the response from the EG in 1944 to the arsenal that provided an incomplete list of who was recorded as possessing those pistols in the list of inquiry. In this list, your pistol was recorded as being issued to Sturmann August Falge who at the time was assigned to BdS C (Befehlshaber der Sicherheitspolizei C).

There is no evidence that Falge was an original member of EG C when it began its journey into Russia, nor that your PPK had been issued to him. The documentation only shows that Falge was a lower rank NCO in the static office of the BdS C (Commander of the Sicherheitspolizei C) located in Lemburg. What his duties were are unknown. You might read up on the duties of the Sicherheitspolizei in occupied territories, but they had changed to police responsibilities by 1943/44.

I would surmise that Falge like others in non-combat Eastern security service was part of the gradual retreat to the West, receiving later assignments of security duties that allowed him to end up being captured by US forces. You might contact Mike Constandy, a respected researcher in the National Archives, to determine the cost of attempting to determine if Falge's files might be found in NCO SS files.

Joe... will have but we will not be home till mid April and I will get a good shot head on.
