            Greetings,
The locking block is certainly wrong for this pistol. Locking blocks that are blued and electro penciled are usually from Russian/Eastern Europe. The "s" and "f" being without paint is usually a sign of a dipped P38. The finish is appears to be the finish of a dipped p38. You can go over to the P38 forum and look at some postings today of a correctly finished ac45. I can't post photos on this forum or I'd show you what I'm talking about. Better yet, go over to the P38 forum and post your P38 and see what kind of feedback you get.

            take care,

            jeff

              P38 opinoin

But the gun, not the story, I would agree with all the negatives given here by Matt and others...buy the gun, not the story. Chris..

Much better pics, but results confirm what I stated earlier. The plunger still looks blued to me! Look at the 3rd from last pic, you can see the wear markings on it from going into the barrel assembly. Also on the 2nd to last pic, it's the exact same blue color as the barrel assembly.
Locking block is electro-pencilled, and is missing the letter block as well.

Also, something else I noticed in these new photos, the lanyard loop is blued as well. Definately a dipped piece.

Check the underside of the barrel for import marks, or smooth surface. If it has a smooth surface on the barrel, then the import mark was removed. They should be rough.

                Matt

It's certainly to my eyes a reblued job. Many of the import P38's I've handled have had the import mark popped on the arched bottom of the backstrap of the frame directly below the hammer. This is easily and often removed and just as easy to tell if done so.
