I was all set to return this rifle this weekend......but some new insight has come to light.I think I will hold on to it a little longer as there is no time limit on the return. It seems like a hands on inspection by an expert is in order. Please post more comments there are some new pics

As I stated earlier, I am out of my lane in authenicating a SSR. I know a good bit about them and would love to find a real one, but I do know enough to 100% detect an expert fake.

I read the posts on GB and I do agree with mrfarb, if it is real I think that 11k was a very good buy.

      Totally different SS SSR .
Rail mount is not MO mount . It's Sühl model ...
You are correct if speaking about factory assembled. I completely disagree if you are speaking of later war time assembled.

SS - SSR's are indeed a different story and I am not confusing them with my comments on non-SS SSR asssemblies.

Period original mount designs and manufacturers are another subject for SS and non-SS variations and not discussed thus far.

Jason, I think you would be wise to send this rifle back and get a refund.

If it were in fact a late-war upgrade (which I don't think it is) wouldn't they have used a later style SSR mount and scope?

Like many of the double claw (except the SS one) snipers, these are not too difficult to fiddle with.

I know it is tough to sort through all the confusing comments on the 2 forums, but my advice is to bail out when there are so many "concerns".

            Jason,

Perhaps I am stating the obvious with this question. Why are you buying sniper rifles without specific subject matter knowledge and then using the net to authenticate by committee? I wouldn't recommend this strategy to anyone in any area of collectibles. Curious as to your reasons.
