It is ridiculous at best to suggest that the government is THAT stupid in terms of the HUGE econonomic impact that it would cause. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN
NO I am not suggesting that. You seem to think the Anti gunners like Di Fi and Shumer's of the world care about jobs over their political ideology

I get a kick out of threads like this...How everyone puffs up thier chest and claims"they arent giving up thier guns" or better yet,,"they will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers",,,gimme a break,,you will all submit or go to prison if caught with illegal firearms.... period,,,our rights will be stripped bit by bit,,and no one will step up to do anything about it,,because no one has the balls to do what really needs to be done,,,

When I was preparing to go out on strike at a previous job,,,some of the biggest union loudmouths were the first to cross the picket line and go back to work to be a scab,,,you cant trust anyone,,we have become a nation of self serving fools,,,its coming people,,instead of talking tough,,why not do something about it?? (and I dont mean write your congressman)

You are a fool to think this. Imagine the Continental army having the SAME attitude that you have. This IS the essense of the discussion. You are suggesting that this United States is going to "slowly" become a Gestapo state in which search and seizure laws will be the norm in every community accross the counrty. I say you are full of non-sense and it wont happen in several of our life times. The very interpretation of the meaning of the 2nd amendment has been debated ad-nauseum, with essentially the strength of its wording being virtually undeniable, though many try and reinterprete its "true" written "Meaning" within its historical context.

Suber,,You dont have to resort to name calling,,,the whole basis of your argument is that we have a second amendment,,,what if it gets slowly eroded?

I suppose you are OK with evryone having to have a license to own firearms?

                  I'm not,,

I see you l;ive in Albuquerque,,,do you like the photo/cameras that give you tickets at the major insersections,,or how about all the random DWI checkpoints APD makes? I think they are unconstitutional
if you ask me Albuquerque is halfway there already,,Part of the reason I just moved from there,,although they had a kick ass gun range out in the desert,,not the one out by double eagle,,the other one

I am sorry to use less than desirable names to illustrate my points. I am glad that you lived here, it is one of the BEST free firearms states in the country. I can open carry in this State, as well as posessing a CCP. We do have nice shooting ranges indoor and out. NO I am not in the least pleased with the "Big Brother" mayor that runs this city, but his time is coming. There are many on the City Counsel that oppose this ordinance, and I will not be surprised if it dissappears. One must however not confuse the ruse of making citizens safer by instilling these ridiculous laws IE: Red light cameras, for the need to GENERATE revenue soley. That IS the purpose of the cameras and is complete shyte.

You reaallllyy need to read your history books some more. I understand that you aced the AP kids...big deal, by your age I allready had 2 years of college under my belt. The gun industry will be limited to what they can charge for a weapon based on what the government feels it should pay. The gun laws are incremental and they started with the NFA of 1934. Every generation the laws are either relaxed or strengthened, but they are never eliminated. And every time they are strengthened they gain a little bit. It's the classic three steps forward two steps back, but they allways get that step...don't they?
In my opinion within the next 20 years gun ownership will become so expensive that the average person won't be able to afford it.

My comment about prices was more of a question than a statement. I understand how the gun laws were passed and how they started, and I have studied them( I am not an expert though, so feel free to correct me when needed).

Hey fellas....just logging on to this thread and got a kick out of Niblets comment. I don't mind commenting about how I think I would do "something about it". My background comes from being around guns for over 50 years. My father was a huge Japanese collector as well as other military and modern firearms, etc. From the time I can remember.....I was doing something with guns ....and being taught the importance of "keeping and bearing them". At the risk of being labeled by Niblet of not having the balls to do something...only bloviate about it.........I think that "writing to our politicians" is very important and striving to elect the ones we "hope" will support our gun rights......is a good place to start. Join gun lobby groups and support them with my time and money. At least then..........you've made your voice known. We all can "prepare" for the inevitable.....stockpile guns and ammo...which BTW is happening as we speak. Plan for the worst and hope for the best. What other choice is there???banghead:
What I'd like to know is.....what does Niblet think is the solution??? Once our rights are stripped....how do we respond?? Did we hide away all our guns and ammo and secretly join forces with all the other..."when they pry my cold dead fingers etc" gun owners...and defend ourselves against the establishment. Altho....2 million Texas deer hunters with high powered rifles...that they can shoot...and well...would be an intimidating force!!! Just some thought from a non union, non self serving fool...who loves guns and is suspicious of...but still thinks this is a great country. Thanx Dana

There are many good posts made in this thread, like Dana's above. If you are reading these posts, you are probably a pro-gun advocate and that gives us all a common goal. Let's keep the posts going and keep the replies positive and of substance to build on and not negative and critical with no purpose other than ridiculing another.

Never in any of my posts have I said that agree with one having to possess a license to own a firearm. In essence however, each and everytime you fill out an FFL application form, you are registering said firearm. With this logic it easy to assume that they have a complete inventory in a database showing exactly what you in theory own on paper, This does not take into account weapons that you have purchased in the local paper, or at the local gun shows, or directly from friends. It is by ANY measure a tall order to control such an idea as to eliminate ALL firearms in society, as one by one everyone throwing up there hands and saying oh, yes please let me go to the local police and turn in everything I own. NOT!

Fools, might be too strong a word, but perhaps "Misguided" might be better?
