    Found these at Maleme..

Hello! Im not sure if this is the right place to post this thread but I'll give it a try..

Anyways, this summer I went to Crete and visited the Maleme area, walked all over the hill 107 to find the cemetary ( yes I missed it at the beginning :P ).
However I found some things that I thougt might be interresting, a couple of cartridges and other stuff.
The piece looking like something from a mortar round I found down at the beach, just outside the airfield.
It could all just be modern garbage, but you never know Any help at all would be great!

Yes, they look like blank rounds with the crimped ends. These could be for rifle grenades or just training.

Clear photos of the headstamps will reveal a lot more!

Okey, the ones with green stuff at the bottom has the markings "HXP-03" and some red stuff at the top. The other two I can not find any markings on. I'll post another picture on the rounds..

Well I havent been able to fix the images more, but after what you can see now, what would you say? Are they from WW2 time? Any thoughts about the other things?

It just came to my mind that I also found this piece at Maleme, not sure if it was at Hill 107 or at the beach.. Looks like a part from an american handgrenade, right? What was it doing there?? :O

                  grenade part

The grenade handle is not US. It could be from a brit millls bomb?

Hm okay well its more likely that there's a british grenade handle than an american due to the location... I just cant find any pictures with this handle on... It would be great to find out!

Sounds and looks like post-war training rounds to me.
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Came to my mind that I have this piece aswell, another type of grenade handle.. Posting som pics if anyone wants to help me identify it. It was also found at Hill 107 at Maleme.
Anyone who can help me identify the piece that looks like shrapnel, found at the beach?

                        Thanks!!

Did you find the blank rounds at the cemetary? Could they be from an honor guard at a funeral?

No I found them while walking around on the hill, on my way up to the cemetary, but not so far from from it.. It sounds like a good idea anyway Y

                            Thank you

Thats exactly what I was thinking , blank rounds fired for a gun salute at a funeral!
