Hi,
Regarding different buttplate makers, here are two pics of my "byf 41" showing the buttplate and the WaA stamps on the side of the stock (also stamped under the stock behind the pistol grip and on the top handguard).

Top: 98 DANZIG 1907
Second: 98a ERFURT 1916
Third: Swedish mauser, HUSQVARNA 1944
Bottom: 98k MAUSER 1937, WaA stamps, (but there is extra marking)

Top: 98k S/27 and bnz, 1937, Double marked
2nd: 98k S/42, 1937, all maching numbers.
3rd: 98k swp45, all maching numbers, very big trigger guard.
4th: 98k dot, 1945

These all are WaA marked.

Here is those extra markings from my 98k which is in bottom of firts picture.
I'n not sure which countrys marking this is.

Hi Jame,
That's the Portuguese-contract K98k.
Apart from the crest on the receiver ring you've also got the special foresight with the protecting wings each side of the blade.
