Just got in Pers' book, "Magazine Spotters' Guide to P38 Pistols". A signed copy non-the-less!

I must say that I am impressed with this book. It is extremely detailed about the P38 magazines. I haven't seen another book quite like this. Very easy to follow, and understand. Some very rare magazines in here too! Great looking photos add to the simplicity of this book.

I would definately like to recommend this book to anyone who is a serious P38 collector! This book is not for the common collector or someone who just has 1 P38, and doesn't want any more. This is a good book for someone who specializes in P38s, and/or is picky about finding the proper magazine for each year and maker of each pistol (including serial ranges!)

      Spreewerk

The book about the Spreewerk is mostly in Norwegian as Jan says. But again collectors of the P.38 pistol will find it interesting because of the picture material in it. It can be ordered from Greysolon Arms. For the moment they do not have the book, but if needed I will send to forfill the orders in the US.

        Per,

Thanks Per. Any idea if we here in the US can get a translated version of the Spreewerk book? Also I noticed that you did one on Walther as well? Is that one in English? if so, where can we get it?
And do you plan to do a book on the Mauser P38 production run as well in the future?
        Let me know!
        Thanks,

        Matt

          Spreewerk

          Hi there again

I am working with the English traslation of the Spreewrerk book. But again it will take some time, this because I am working on a new book about the P.38 pistol. This book will take care of the Norwegian P.38 history afther the War and the Norwegian P.38 Ulm Contract. These Norwegian Ulm pistols were marked with an shield containing the letter N. This book will also be bi-langual.
In the future there will be a new Spreewerk book. Maybe this book will focus on the history itself. We will see.

Fore those who are interested I will put some of these Norwegian Ulm pistols out for sale in a two years time. To let you know, only one of these pistols are out among collectors so far. This one were sold in the US. So again they are rare.

          Regards
          Per

With respect to all of the contributers to this thread! So far no book is written about the P.38 that is good enough for the hard core P.38 collector.
What I do belive is that when the German Gentleman A.Krutzek is coming with his P.38 book several of the none documented topics will be solved, As the SpreeWerke topic.

              Regards

              Carl

                Carl,
I respectfully submit that you should have a look at the trilogy by Warren H. Buxton. They were copyrighted in 1978, with the first edition during that year. Subsequently, a second printing in 1999.
                ISBN Number 0-87833-303-7
I think you will find them quite comprehensive.

                Cordially,

                Ronnie

                      book

                      Matt,
I ordered it from the seller that you listed on page 1. I had to order it I have a "pile" of mags to go through, I even found some gray phosphate mags. with a VERY thin phosphate wash finish.
