How common are the left handed bolt action mausers? How much do they normally run? Thanks!

Hello Rolf!
I have never seen a Left handed Mauser (not to say they don't exist). I have seen a left handed Springfield, and a Lee Enfield, but never a mauser. Except i have seen a Sporting version of it but never military.
Do you have any photos of one, or does anyone have any photos of one?

Military issue left hand 98k's do not exist. I suppose it might be possible that for some reason a high ranking party member might have had one made, but even that is a stretch of the imagination. However, I do believe that Mauser made a limited number of left hand sporting action/rifles between wars, and you can still have one custom made if you want to pay the exorbitant price.
These photos are obviously negitive reversed, and I have seen a lot of that on the internet noticing other equipment "reversed".
My humble opinion,
Thanks,
Johnnie

This is 100% negative switch!
Let's look at the facts:
1. Look at the sling on the rifle. It is on the reverse side. If Mauser did make a left handed bolt, do you really think that they would take the time to switch the stock so that you can move both the barrel bands, as well as the sling to the other side?
Answer to #1- NO!
2. Look at the bench that the shooter is using. It only has one end that sticks out for elbow support. Now do you really think that the Germans would have a bench designed only for left handed shooters?
Answer to #2- NO!
Sorry, but from these shadey photos, I'm not convinced at all. These are just somebody's idea of a prank.

Geeze I'm sorry!
I'm sorry I didn't want this type of response. I just wanted to know if there were left handed K98s. So everybody tilted their caps to the right? Haven't we come across many non regulation fotos? Maybe they are just reversed...or some dumb film developer decided to put a non regulation medal amongst the person whose photos it was medal bar...

Here is one, notice how ALL caps are tilted to the right.

So it is my personal belief that your photos are backwards.

Sorry Rolf,
I didn't mean to jump on your photos, but I think everyone (including myself), stated earlier in the thread (before you posted the photos!) that there was no such thing as a left handed K98!
After seeing your photos everyone (including myself) has agreed that these photos are bogus, and simply flipped negatives.
I'm sorry, but the answer to your question remains, there is no such thing as a left handed K98.
