Nice byf44 Bill! I have a 1937 S/42 with a bayonet lug bent just like yours.

    Best,

I have always wondered about the 98K bayonet design feature that has no muzzel ring on the bayonet and is only held on the rifle by the lug. Theoretically, it makes the rifle more accurate, but if you do any serious work with the bayonet, there really isn't a lot of support there.

          Bill,

Very nice K98! I'm wiping the drool off my computer now, from your turret sniper too! Wish I still had mine!

            Bill,

Very nice standard K98k 'L' range byf.

I am curious about your 'L' range HT. Does it have a checkered buttplate?

                  Bill,
Tell us about the "other" HT you posted by mistake. Not many collectors have enough high turrets in their collection to get them mixed up.

BTW, I love the chatter marks in the wood of the first byf44 you posted.

                    Beautiful Bill

Have you ever shot any of the Mauser Snipers for accuracy with good modern ammo?

Could I ask what "chatter marks" are?

                      Thanks,
