I have always wondered about the 98K bayonet design feature that has no muzzel ring on the bayonet and is only held on the rifle by the lug. Theoretically, it makes the rifle more accurate, but if you do any serious work with the bayonet, there really isn't a lot of support there.

I am curious about your 'L' range HT. Does it have a checkered buttplate?

Tell us about the "other" HT you posted by mistake. Not many collectors have enough high turrets in their collection to get them mixed up.

Blair, CHATTER MARKS are a pattern of impacts on wood left by a stock making machine, etc..... Ie: Rough cut, Not smooth... Found on late war 98Ks.. Here is the pict. again showing the chatter marks with the Mauser 135 proof....BILL
