Terrific M91 Bill!
I have a Soviet-refurbished M91/30 that was made by the Izhevsk factory in 1942; They used a WWI-era Remington hexagon reciever when they made it. If you look closely at the serial number, You'll see that it doesn't have the customary cyrillic letters preceeding it. When I showed this to others much more knowledgable on Mosin's than I am, They said that they believe that the Russians may have used the original Remington rifles's serial number when they made this in 1942.
Those Russians were very resourceful!
