hi there, is anyone able to help out ? i have a BYF41 po8 with marks that i unable to find info on. the serial number is 6509 and the marks i have a question about are NPv ..... N and P are joined together and the V is smaler and tucked underneath the P. there are also the letters NTT together with another stamp that looks a little like an eagle ( not much though) ! . any info would be appreciated thanks . kevin

the NPv marking is an Austrian Nitro proof (the smaller "V" stands for the Vienna proof house). The eagle should be the Austrian eagle.
There should be present also a number like 1234.56 . The first digits left to the period is the running number of the proof journal, while the number right to the period is the year of the proof (regarding the example: this would be the 1234th gun proofed in 1956).

well, it might have been imported to Austria or it just was re-proofed in Austria - for whatever reasons (some people thing, the old proofs are no longer valid).
