Is this German WW2 9mm Ammo??

Hey everyone, I don't know much about german ammo. But I bought what was supposed to be german ww2 9mm ammo. Is everything in the photo original pre-1945?

I also saw some sealed boxes of german ammo, it was 25$ a box.. is that a fair price?

Hey Rylan, I see you hit the gunshow!! All casings appear to be German WW2 vintage. I paid a couple years ago $7 for a box of sealed 9mm. Congrats!

Hey Joe, do you think there is any chance the casings have been reloaded??

I paid about 25 cents a round, which is rougly the going rate for a new 9mm as you know. The show was not bad today, a lot of people. Not too much german militaria. The anual show in March is always killer hope to see you out there.

      Cheers.

There is a cartridge marked H arrow N, that is British military for the Sten or Highpower. There is also a cartridge marked WCC 43. That is Winchester Cartridge Company so US made.

Hey thanks Gary, that helps weave out the non german rounds. Is there a site that explaines these markings as well as german ammunition types, markings etc?

            Hi Rylan,

I honestly don't know about a web site out there that does what you want it. I have loads of books that I have studied over the years which is where I got my info.

Thanks Douglas! that is exactly the info I was looking for! Where did you find that? a reference book or the internet?

Also, this is a newbie question... I assume the 2 diget number... 41, 42, 43 is the date correct? And was the Czech made ammo for german use, made while occupied?

Just google cartridgecollectors.org and you will find their headstamp ident. page.

                    Hope this will help,Terry

                      Yes Rylan :
The abriviation codes are from : Kent: German Military Ammunition Book and from other on line sites , there are many !
One that I found had a very complete listing of all letter codes : that includes all Ammo and all weapon and non weapon parts with any type accessories and non related equipment , letter markings\ codes found on canteens, gas masks , leather goods/holsters etc .: 17 pages !

                      http://www.radix.net/~bbrown/codes_full.html

As a very general description only :40, 21, 42 ...... at that position (9 o'clock) indicates year , and other numbers in that head stamp configuration (6 o'clock) are batch or lot numbers .

                      Douglas
