Hi Merdock
I assume the three pistols were a Luger, a P38 and a Mauser Model 34 then?
What you should have done ( or can still do depending on how long ago it was since you handed them into the police) is arrange for a Section 5 dealer to collect the pistols from the police and deactivate them.
(Compensation was only paid out for pistols handed in by FAC holder as a result of the ban.)
Deact costs would run to about £80 to £100 per gun but you would then have a deact Luger worth £700 plus, a P38 worth £400 plus and a Mauser worth £250 plus.
The guns will be destroyed by the police sooner or later.
Cheers
LT

Hi Lt,
At the time approx 6 months ago the owner wanted them destroyed i was not aware that a dealer could contact the police after the hand in so they will have now been destroyed.
Do have a photo somewhere but not on my computer of them need to scan it,the lugar was 1914 dated but not vgc as it was pitted, the p38 was near mint ,1944 dated,in that horrible late war crap finish, the the 1934 was again mint with naval markings it has a name scratched into the mag as well.
