          I know the Germans made these for the Gew. 98 in the First War, and I know that there have been a lot of post war reproductions for sale. This is the first Second War one I have seen. Are you sure it isn't possibly an MG-13 mag? Or possibly for an FG? Since you are sure of the provenece, this is interesting.

          Cheers,
          Johnnie

              I've seen something similar on an K98k (had it in my hands). It can hold around 20 or 25 bullets I believe

                For me it looks like a modified MG13 Magazine, possibly postwar done

                I can remember those Magazines where produced in the WW1 and had no

                  @ostmark
                  you are partly right

                  but as i know berlin-suhler-waffen und fahrzeugwerke suhl, thüringen, bsw built with WAa 4 only k98k and parts of it.

                      I don't understand how you could fit one of those when the K-98s came with a floor plate.

                      And how can it say 1938 on it when it has FNH on it, I assume that maker codes didn't start until 1941?

                        i hoped to find answers in here

                        maybe original mg13, then overworked?

                          I am in agreement with Mr Ostmark on this one Herr Rove....I think its post war overworked. I have owned a reproduction but never seen this before which makes me think it is probably original MG13 but overworked.

                          Regards Craig.

                            Early to midwar 98K's had detatchable floorplates. These type of magazines were designed to be used after the floorplate was removed, and to catch in the trigger guard using the same catch system as the floorplate.
                            You make a good point about the FNH marking. I suspect a post war rework of a MG-13 mag, but I have an open mind.

                            Cheers,
                            Johnnie

                              The magazine is definately for the MG13(I have about 20 by the same maker that I used on my MG13 till I sold it) The modification is not good enough to be period done by a factory IMO. If the second makers stamp were not there I could believe a regimental modification, but with the stamp I would come down on the side of fakery.
