2 simple questions for you G43 experts please

hey Guys, Glenn here. I always try to look up the info before I ask questions as many times you can find them in the archives. maybe Im not typing in the key words for my specific questions. hopefully someone out there can help unravel My mystery as Im looking to do a G43 ensemble in the near future. first question; was the common Heer frontliner that was issued a G43 equipped also with a bayonet to carry on Him at all times? second, I heard that each soldier was only issued 1 G43 pouch and the other was the standard K98 pouch. is this correct or were they issued 1 or 2 of the G43 pouches depending on availability? I dont want to obtain 2 if this was not the typical case of issue. any info/comments/pics (that would be great) would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. Glenn

        G43

Ditto on the one pouch (with the 98K being the secondary pouch), if you are serious about getting further in depth with the G43 go to the aforementioned website.
Also pick up a copy of Hitler's Garand's by Darrin Weaver.

        One more site...http://claus.espeholt.dk/
From there you'll have links to more....Chris...

thanks Guys for the link and comments. the few pics I have seen of soldiers with G43's did seem to have just one G43 pouch and 1 K98. unfortunately I can never tell if they carry a bayo. no one can comment on this one. Glenn

Glenn, I would tend to think that you could go with a bayonet or not......I don't believe they were ever in short supply, so tend to think the majority of soldiers would've been issued one......Regardless of what weapon they were issued....Bodes

I remember reading somewhere that both soldiers that were issued with G43 or MP44 carried bayonets for close combat use
              Not sure of this though

I suspect a combat knife would have been more useful than a bayonet iof armed with a G/K43...
