I'm just curious, what is the reason for your personal preference towards the MG34 instead of the MG42?

    Hi John,
I totaly agree with bnz, the 34. is a much finer looking weapon than the 42.
It has a much more streamlined shape, almost shark-like, where as the 42 has a rather chunky appearance from all the pressed/stamped components.
Although the 42 could throw out more rounds per second, the 34, along with the Luger, are much more 'elegant' looking pieces.
    Regards,
    Steve.

      Mg34

I agree Steve. I like the look of the MG34 better too. Also the fact that this was the gun that changed all the rules. I just like the way the barrel could be changed on the MG42. For my display I've decided to go with the 34. When I have a bigger house maybe I'll get a 42 also.

Thanks to both BNZ and Steve for the pics. Are your examples complete with all parts and using a dummy receiver? The fully assembled one available from IMA says it leaves out the recoil spring and other small unneeded parts. I really don't like that. Even if it is a dummy receiver and even if the parts don't match, I still want them all. Is that crazy on my part? Can you even tell the difference?

Here are a couple pics of my firend's '34 and accessories. Wayne has over 900 rounds of original ammunition in original packing which blew me away.

I hear you, John. Same with me - I also liked my set to be complete "minus original receiver". But unfortunately, unless you are buying a "live MG", 99% of these sets are sold without "the recoil spring and other small unneeded parts". But don't worry John. Keeping in mind that the receiver is already not original and "dummy", I think it is not too bad. Visually, there is no difference; and yes - all parts are movable.
