One can argue about the engraving.

Grammatical it is NOT correct as it should be Ehrenzeichens (with an s at the end).
It seems also odd the shortened Verleihung. It would also be very normal when having
said April instead of the IV. But it is possible as it was done occasionally.

About the grammatical mistake/error (confirmed by a friend and 3. Reich authority):
is precisely of the kind that a native speaker would not make, but that someone not
familiar with the language would make. This gave him a very bad feeling about this blade...

Maybe post war added inscription to add more value seeing that the motto has completely worn away, would the motto be worn away during the period with use by the hj member ??

you should have said so. Of course it is done post war by someone
who has not enough knowledge of the German language.

Wim I posted this knife for comments and I am not going to inflect opinion one way or another to get typical "pile on" comments.

should be compared with a similar HJ with blade profile and thickness, when it was realised postwar, there was a part of blade prepared for engraving. b.r.Andy
