    Naval Engraving Part 2

It appears that the consensus is that the sword is original but blade may have been enhanced later. Rather than clog up the earlier thread with more pics, I have started this part 2 for the blade only pics and info requested by Tony.

The etch itself appears fairly deep and my nail easily catches on the raised parts. Note that the spine is also engraved fairly deeply if that is at all significant? From what I can gather by the other acceptance etc marks this might be dated to about 1936?
The design from handle outward is a ship then eagle/anchor/swastica on obverse. Reverse is alcoso mark, a ship and towards tip a monument.
Question for those with appropriate books, does this appear as a legitimate alcoso design? I have Tom Wittmans, Johnsons and Angolias books but there is not sufficient info in them.
So, here are some more pics. I await any further comments and opinions. Hope these shots are better. Thanks.

                  Bob,

I don't believe this engraving to be pre '45. As someone stated above it may indeed be an Atwood production or IMO possibly a Reddick upgrade. The sword itself looks good but the etching is not. The fields are too dark because the etched blade wasn't nickle plated afterwards. The mid period Alcoso logo looks to be etched instead of stamped which is a red flag in itself. This arched script logo is also used on the repro etched bayonets that Reddick marketed a while back.

Sorry but this sword and the incongruous features just doesn't add up IMO.

                  Tony
