It appears that the consensus is that the sword is original but blade may have been enhanced later. Rather than clog up the earlier thread with more pics, I have started this part 2 for the blade only pics and info requested by Tony.
The etch itself appears fairly deep and my nail easily catches on the raised parts. Note that the spine is also engraved fairly deeply if that is at all significant? From what I can gather by the other acceptance etc marks this might be dated to about 1936?
The design from handle outward is a ship then eagle/anchor/swastica on obverse. Reverse is alcoso mark, a ship and towards tip a monument.
Question for those with appropriate books, does this appear as a legitimate alcoso design? I have Tom Wittmans, Johnsons and Angolias books but there is not sufficient info in them.
