    Gary,

There is a knot with a similar issue toward the end of Tom Johnson & Rex Reddick's accouterments book. It's an etched KS98 with a Polizei NCO knot where some of the colored cords changed color from green to gold. The change in color appeared complete over the entire knot. I've also seen the occasional Polizei knot & Army dagger knot with the same issue.

Last year, George Wheeler & I exchanged emails on this exact topic. Rather than thinking it was a superior officer variant of the standard knot (as the Johnson/Reddick assumed), George believed it to be nothing more than a degradation of certain dyes in the knot cords which resulted in the unusual color scheme.

An in-hand inspection would be optimal but this one appears to be the same issue IMHO.

What are the thoughts on the knot?

                Cheers Adam

An interesting line of reasoning that may be the answer. Citing for example the cast phenolic resin ("Trolon") handles that as they aged went from a white all the way to a deep orange. FP

Interestingly, the slide & cats anus have retained their original green color. I don't know if Gary agrees with me but I'm convinced it's a Polizei NCO knot.

Yes after seeing the pictures of the knot I believe it to be once with green accents. So its definitely a standard NCO knot.
