Boys, the days of being able to photo identify a good Rohm are over IMO.

I cant comment on the inscription as I don't know enough about it but wasn't the Eickhorn maker mark on these daggers put in this low position next to the guard to make more room for the inscription, so could it be ok.

        Russ,

The location of the maker mark only indicates the blade allegedly started out as a Röhm blade. Many times we have seen correct blades with spurious dedications which means fakes are better at their craft & the location of the maker mark is only one small facet to look at.

As Serge says, look to where the money is, the specifics of the dedication is the real place to scrutinize.

Nonesense, we will always be able to identify a fake Rohm and a perfect fake will never pass a hand on inspection, never.

I personally have quit commenting on any daggers authenticity from photos as the fakes have gotten much better over time. I agree hands on is the way to go anymore!
Some of the ones coming out of the former Commie bloc countries are downright scary.

I still feel strongly that the perfect fake does not exist, if it were to be so, why would anyone in the world buy any dagger from anyone ?

Perhaps, I'm from another planet ?

Around nine years ago Galien D. stated that he was no longer going to Photo Appraise Full Rohm's. He was one of the 'To-Go-To' experts of Full Rohm's at the time. I feel the fakes have improved since then. And yes, they are coming from former East Bloc countries, and they test their product on western forums and note comments and them make adjustment, and repeat.

Unless you really know you stuff - you can be fooled easily these days. This SA dagger, IMHO, is one of those current fakes.

                    Serge

                      J. Willig, Please start a separate thread on your partial Rohm.

I am closing the other posts.
