Original early Hammesfahr Solingen NSKK dagger, from Nordsee.
Unfortunately, it seems that the blade was cleaned.

This is a nice, early dagger -- excessively cleaned as previously mentioned -- but I'm wondering about the scabbard. The body appears to be almost intact -- from the one photo we see -- but given that this set would be 80 years old now, and would have been regularly worn (and therefore dropped and dinged throughout the 1930s, at least), the scabbard appears to be in pristine condition. The body would have been painted, probably by the dagger's owner, in the mid-1930s when the NSKK became autonomous from the SA and the decision was made to change from brown scabbards to black, but the signs of wear and tear on the hardware as well as the scabbard's body should still be seen to some degree. Perhaps it's still there and the photo isn't showing it?
Just a thought on a fine, early piece; thanks for sharing it.
