          Ralph,
We are here to discuss, present facts and learn something. I have a feeling that by showing the dagger You forgot to write that only are welcome. I do not suppose you like me more when I clarify that the springy wire on the grip is typical for Holler not Horster. Horster should also have a leather washer. I think my doubts require further analysis and comparison with known originals.

          Regards
          Jakub

              Ralph,
The only wasted time here is my time and I will not make that mistake again.

                Gentlemen...

This is a very interesting subject and I am learning from the information posted by all. I believe it is OK to have a difference of opinion, but this internet medium makes it way too easy to type something that you (I) would never say in a face to face conversation. A difference of opinion is not worth the price of loosing a friend (not even a virtual one).

                Kind regards,
                Don_

                  Don,
I agree with you that the difference of opinion are a regular element of the discussion and defending our opinion we should use arguments not emotions. And generally it works but sometimes you run into someone with 1% of the collector's knowledge and 99% arrogance and discussion is over. I'm sure that collectors who do not avoid discussion can waste a little more time but certainly less money.

                  Regards
                  Jakub

                        horster navy dagger

The dagger has the early Horster scabbard, and should have the stamped trade mark on the blade with this vintage scabbard. Job to tell from the pictures if it is etched or stamped. On every Horster navy I have handled it has had a thin leather blade washer not red felt but who can say they never used red felt also ?.

On the first dagger, Horster logo is etched.

                            Horster navy

Rancid 66 I think you will find on the early daggers it was stamped not etched.

                              horster navy

Also Horster did not use the springy wire the only company that used this was Holler.

I agree, on the obverse of the blade not reverse.
